Indonesian Spicy Cabbage

Inspired by the Indonesian Sajoer Bean dish, this recipe puts the not-so-common laos taste at the center of the dish. Overwhelmed by all the spices? Try looking for Sajoer Bean mix in the supermarket. It's also nice with tofu if you want to get a protein boost.

Ingredients

Oxheart Cabbage

Coconut milk
Laos
Sambal
Soy sauce
Ginger
Lime
Bouillon tablet (vegetable)
Onions
Garlic

Variations

Add tofu for a protein boost.

Prep

  1. Mince garlic and dice onion
  2. Cut cabbage in strips
  3. Grate ginger

Cook

20 min

pan 1b

Sauté onion, garlic and ginger

medium heat ~5 min

Add coconut milk and bouillon tablet

medium heat ~2 min

pan 2

Cook rice

~10 min

pan 1 continued

Add laos, sambal, and soy sauce

medium heat ~1 min

Add cabbage

mix well, simmer ~8 min

Add peas and lime juice

squeeze the lime and let everything simmer until warm
~3 min, taste and add salt and pepper if needed

Garnish with cashew nuts

    Het is een overheerlijk recept.
    De cashewnoten heb ik geroosterd.
    De kokosmelk heb ik gehalveerd.
    Heb iets meer spitskool en doperwten toegevoegd wij eten meer groeten dan rijst.
    Ook nog extra sambal en gember toegevoegd wij houden van pitting eten.
    Heb twee limoenen gebruikt..
